  • 1.  SiteMinder 12.5: Policy Server Unreachable

    I recently installed Policy server on a test lab for first time, after completing the installation an IE windows was opened for username, password and servername I supplied the username, password and servername as localhost, after click on "Sign In" Button, it throwing the following error:

     

    Error: The Policy Sever 'localhost' is unreachable

     

    This is my first time installation of siteminder and looking for some expert advise to clear this road block. what should I check in system. Any help would be appreciable.

    There are many components involved during installation. Are you referring to admin UI login error or something else? 

    You first need to check policy server is installed correctly, and up running no errors,  and policy store is also setup and ready. Then you move on to admin UI installation and so on.

    My advise is never use "localhost", always use FQDN. On certain OS, http request to localhost is disallowed.

    This is related to admin UI login. I have checked policy server is running. After I restarted the policy server from management console I started getting the following error at Sign in page. I have used my lod server fqdn name as server name this time.

     

    Error: No Registration on File

    Did you try providing IP address or the FQDN for the Policy server ?

    I tried the following servernames

                    127.0.0.1

                    IP of the Server

                    Hostname

                    FQDN

                    Localhost

     

    Below are the logs from smps.log and smaccess.log files

     

    Smps.log

    [Wed May 11 2016 10:14:34][XPSRegService.cpp:544][Outputter::Error][ERROR][sm-xpsxps-07270] No registration on file.

    [Wed May 11 2016 10:16:27][XPSRegService.cpp:544][Outputter::Error][ERROR][sm-xpsxps-07270] No registration on file.

     

    Smaccess.log

    Ah, makes sense now. You need to run XPSRegclient command again.

    XPSRegClient siteminder:<password> -adminui-setup -vT

    XPSREGClient siteminder:siteminder -adminui-setup
