We have installed/new two Enterprise Managers - Collectors (version 10.0) and we are using the EM - Collector Resources Capacity dashboards.  On the EM Resource Capacity the Disk Space is in error and the

    Has a value of zero.

Reviewing the /<EM home>/data directory which is where the baseline.db is configured to be stored, there isn't a baseline.db file and there is more than 40 GB of space free on the <em home>/data mount.

Does anyone know when the baseline.db is initialized by creating the baseline.db file?

    Thanks,

    Hi Billy,

I know that I have given information via support issue that you opened with us. I will add the same information here for other community members.

The 0 value for the metric

Custom Metric Host (virtual)|Custom Metric Process (virtual)|Custom Metric Agent (virtual)(collector_host@port)(SuperDomain)|Enterprise manager|Data Store|Volume Space Free: baseline Volume Free (mb)

is a hangover from previous releases. In 10.x the baselines database has been superseded, so this metric is no longer valid. We already have raised a defect with our Engineering team for this. In future releases this will no longer appear in the investigator. For the present we would recommend that you disable or remove from alerts or metric groupings that reference this metric.

    Thanks, Amir

    Thank you Amir.

Another interesting part of this, is with 10.0, it appears that the baseline.db, which in our case is any where from 2 GB to 4 GB is not longer used and might be able to be deleted without impact.

CA Support, Amir advised that we test deleting the /<em home>/data/baseline.db file on a non-production system first to insure everything is ok before doing it to a production instance.

baseline.db was used for pre-10.0 baselines. In 10.0 we introduced Differential Analysis and baseline.db was superseded by variance.db.
