Have tried several times now to upgrade to vmware-probe version 5.02. It seems that vmware-probe 5.02 is showing the wrong values in percentage free-guestdisks When going from scratch and looking on a specific VM-guest, under a specific Guestdisk you see:
The value of the percentage is showing a wrong number (must be max 100)
Does anyone have a hint or tip for this confusing behavior?
Bad calculations in the probe would be my guess I am not sure how the vmware api displays the value if it's a percent in there then maybe they are just grabbing the wrong metric. Well at least this should be a obvious bug for support/engineering.
Thanks MassimoB80. Although I still hope that he probe/nms would do the calculation for me...
I have created a ticket at support some days ago. Did not hear from them about this specific wrong calculation error or bug. Reveived an instruction video how to deploy vmware probe. Also did not find any message in the support-portal about this bug.
But I will not step back to version 4.20 again. Done this many times already. (a bit similar to the net_connect probe) More probaly I will change thresholds and SLA/SLO calculations to absolute Gbytes numbers. (approx 160 monitors to change again )
This is a known issue, but we've got an easy workaround. Add ' -Duser.language=en -Duser.country=US' to the start-up options of the probe (available via Raw Configure) and restart.
So if I understand you correctly:
we need to create two new keys under start-up:
Duser.language with value "en"
Duser.country with value"US"
and restart the probe...
if that is what you mean, I can report back to you that it unfortuneately did not solve the issue:
Close, but not quite what I meant.
In 'Raw Configure' it should look like this:
Thanks, that did the trick!
VMWare 5.06 Probe also delivers wrong percentage values....
workaround. Add ' -Duser.language=en -Duser.country=US' to the start-up options did work
