  • 1.  How do I  change only the boot alarm setting in cdm using a configuration package?

    I have been having trouble changing only one setting in cdm without affecting everything else, can anyone show me how I would change a setting like reboot alarm and leave all the other settings alone using a configuration package? It should be assumed the other cdm settings may be different accross servers.

    I know there is a better document but I can't find it. I would assume you would use an overwrite flag on the bootalarm section in the CFX file.

    I've read this before HOWEVER what it does is it cancels out all the other settings for the other sections. That's great I changed my boot alarm and now all my other settings have been wiped out. It's not clear how to definitively NOT make any change to a section.

    You just want to have the bootalarm section in its own configuration

    <bootalarm> overwrite

       SETTINGS HERE

    </bootalarm>

    That should be the only thing in the CFX file.

    It usually helps to look at the .cfx as a sort of delta/diff configuration. So, you have:

        .cfg + .cfx = new config

    That means you (normally) should only have what you wish to change in the .cfx file. Nothing else. Nothing more.

    There's also the packageEditor documentation: http://docs.nimsoft.com/prodhelp/en_US/Probes/Catalog/packageeditor/4.0/index.htm

    There's some factual errors in it though.. might have been this:

    ‘edit’

    Add or change keys from this section overwriting existing keys. The section position is not changed when using this option

    I believe edit doesn't do "add" (for keys, values yes)
