The IUA Board of Directors in conjunction with CA Technologies is pleased to announce the following joint Ideation initiative:
What is the Ideas portal? The Ideas portal is an application within the IUA community space to share our ideas with the CA IDMS product team. The Ideas portal complements other request channels – e.g. meetings, CA World, user groups, webcasts, DARs – used to communicate requirements and feature input to CA. From the Ideas portal you can post new ideas, discuss current ideas and follow an idea’s progress as it potentially becomes part of a product release.
Using the Ideas portal. Access ideas by clicking the Ideas tab in the IUA community. You can also link to ideas from a discussion thread. More information can be found in the Ideas Guide (click to view).
Idea categories. Ideas can fall into one or more categories to make them easier to manage. These are the current IDMS categories and they can evolve over time:
• Application modernization – SQL
• Application modernization – Web services
• Mobility
• High availability
• Performance, tuning and TCO
• Usability and productivity
• Technical currency (opsys, CICS, standards support)
• Other
Ideas process and Status. Ideas can be posted by IUA community members and CA staff. The IDMS product team is adding current ideas, including some top DARs for review. At least once every two months, the IDMS product team reviews ideas to update statuses or add comments. Right now is a key time for IDMS ideas as CA will be starting on CA IDMS Version 19.0 in early 2014.

DARs. We believe the Ideas Portal will be an improvement over the current DAR process and may eventually replace it entirely. For now, CA will continue to review DARs semi-monthly and post relevant DARs to the Ideas portal for wider discussion.
Customer validation. Ideas that become part of the product roadmap and release plan will need customer validation. In Agile, customer validation participation starts with Sprint demonstrations during release development. CA is asking that customers who submit ideas – and other customers –participate in customer validation as part of the collaborative commitment when features are planned for delivery in a new release.
The IUA is a strong supporter of the Communities program. The board is looking for other new and innovative ways to utilize the CA Communities platform to improve the IDMS product line and increase support for IDMS users.
