DX Application Performance Management

  • 1.  setting up custom backends

    Posted Jan 23, 2014 02:52 PM

    Hello

Sorry for being so lazy, but was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction to setup custom "backends."

I have a few apps that are making webservice calls to outside services.  I have a request to track the response times from our application's perspective.

Any ideas (or point to doc) would be much appreciated.

    Thanks!

    Melissa

Take a look at the wiki for custom instrumentation with BackendMarker.

    Hello Melissa,

I have attached an example that might help you: "How to - general example of the use of BackendMarker".

    Please refer to HowToGeneralExampleTheUseOfBackendMarker.pdf.

    Thanks,

    Hi Melissa,

Did you install the SOA Performance Management extensions on your Agents? That should instrument your webservices automatically. If it does not, can you please tell us what SOAP stack your application is using? We do have fieldpacks for many of the unsupported ones Out-Of-The-Box.

    Regs,

    Florian.

    Hi Florian!

Appreciate your response.  I have tried the SOA Powerpack, but unfortunately...we rarely use SOAP for webservices...almost all of our's are RESTful.  I did vote for the idea to have REST services be added to SOA powerpack.  Maybe it's in the works?  :)

    Hi Melissa,

I plan to post an extension that covers a good deal of the frequently used http client libraries next week, I’ll keep you posted.

    Regs,

    Florian.

    Hi Melissa,

Florian posted it to Documents: http://goo.gl/aktVbR

I noticed a typo when i used it earlier so make sure the PBL content matches the PBDs.
