Hello,
Today I will show you the way to fix Autonumbering on Task ID number, but this document can be used for any autonumbering you have configured in Clarity.
Initial error:
When trying to create a task the following message appears:
"Error:Error 500 - Internal Server Error. The server could not retrieve the document due to server-configuration or other technical problems. Contact your site administrator."
Error in App log:
"Failed to auto-generate the next value: the limit of auto-numbering scheme has been reached. Please contact the System Administrator."
Cause:
If this error message is found in App log and caused by creating a new task, the reason is that Autonumbering configuration has reached its limit.
For example if Counter length of Autonumber is set to 3, no autoextend, after creating 999 tasks you will not be allowed to create new task as task ID cant be set.
Analysis:
Autonumbering configuration can be edited and reconfigured in Studio. We should review the rules the task autonumbering
Open Administration side-Studio-Objects.
Search for Task object and open Attributes tab. Open properties of ID attribute. Select Auto-numbering tab.
Once in Autonumbering select Edit under Scheme name. Click on Numeric counter. This is where you define the length and rules of autonumber.
Solution:
In Autonumbering Segment Properties that we have just browsed, tick on autoextend box.
Alternatevly you can edit Counter length to higher value and Save the configuration.
I hope you will find this useful
