BCM53134M: Restrict IMP to BPDUs

  • 1.  BCM53134M: Restrict IMP to BPDUs

    Posted 02-09-2017 03:45 AM

    Hello everyone,

Is it possible to restrict the frames traffic through the IMP port of BCM53134M only to the Spanning Tree Protocol BPDUs by means of switch's registers configuration?

    Thank you for your attention.

    Hi,

Do you mean your external CPU which connecting with 53134M IMP port would not like to receive the BPDU packet?

If it's yes, please set the Register(0x02: 0x00) bit[1] = 0 to disable BPDU receive.

    Thanks,

    Ryan

    Hi,

Thank you Ryan. But I meant the opposite. I would like IMP port to receive/transmit BPDU packets only (including BCM Header) and discard all the other frames. Is it acchievable by means of registers configuration?

    Thanks,

    Hi,

    Thanks the information.

I believe your platform configuration is using 53134 IMP port connect to your external CPU.

For your question, it cannot achieve by registers configure. Because when 53134 IMP port configured in managed mode, all reserved multicast and control frames receiving by front ports will be trapped to IMP port to CPU. It cannot only for BPDU frame.

    Thanks,

    Ryan
