So we have 1 switch fabric [4100B v.4.2a] that needs to be decomed after the cables being migrated to 6510[FOS 7.2.1].
Will ISLing the 2 switches segment the switches?
I wish to (after the ISL's) move the cables from old to the new switches and remove the ISL. Will this make the new switch principal with the inhereted zone(& zoneset) information from the old switch?
Please let me know.
I hope the 4100 runs 6.4.2a and not 4.2a. If you haven't modified any of the fabric parameters they should just merge and the zoneset will be distributed to the new switch. If you've used WWPN as zone-members you can move the cables. It should just start working again.
For more info see my blog.
Thanks for the response.
Sorry that's 6.4.2a. the new switch has only been modified for a uniq domain-id[the rest remain unchanged].
Yes they are WWPN zoned. My only last question is:after i moved the cables when in the end I unplug the ISL will the new switch be able to act as principal-with the absorbed zoneset?
