Problems to merge Zoneset from Cisco MDS 9148 to multiple Brocade 4/12 HP Bladecenter Switches

    Hi Guys,

since a few days i have Problems to Merge My Zoneset from My Cisco MDS 9148 to 3 Brocade 4/12 HP Bladecenter Switches.

i've edited the Zoneset on the Cisco MDS an activated the Zoneset. But the Zoneset wasn't merged to the Brocade switches.

an "zoneshow" Command on the Brocades showed me that the old Zoneset ist still active on the Brocades.

i tried an Zoneset export Command on the Cisco. outcome was that the Ports on the Cisco to the Brocade switches went down ( isolation due to Zone Merge Failure ).

I've two Fabrics. both of them have 1 MDS 9148 and 3 Brocade Bladecenter Switches.

The problem occur only in one Fabric.

on the Brocade website i found an guidance how to initialize an zone merge in case of zone merge failures. i deactivated the switch deleted on one Brocade switch with only 2 Hosts the zoneset an activated the switch. Nothing happened. the switch has now no Zoneset....

    --------------------------------------------------------

    blade02-bay4:admin> zoneshow
    Defined configuration:
     no configuration defined

    Effective configuration:
     no configuration in effect

    blade02-bay4:admin>

I'm afraid to make more changes and to smash the fabric with my attempt.

I appreciate every kind of help.

    Thanks a lot.

    Björn

    Bjoern,

you ask for a config Merge from Cisco to Brocade.

Q.: do you want to 1) Mantained or 2) Dismiss the Cisco after merge the config ?

If a case of 2) the simple way to create create a Fabric is to configure NPIV.

Another option is to set the Brocade in Interop-Mode.

    Hi TechHelp24,

    thanks for reply.

I dont want do dismiss or maintain the Cisco Switch. The Cisco and the Brocades should work together in the Fabric.

    this is my Fabric:

    IBM Storage

           |

    Cisco MDS

           |

           |--- Brocade Bladecenter Switch 1

           |                                               | ---- Host 1,2,3..

           |--- Brocade Bladecenter Switch 2

           |                                               | ---- Host 1,2,3..

           |--- Brocade Bladecenter Switch 3

           |                                               | ---- Host 1,2,3..

in the past I edited the Zoneset on the Cisco. the Zoneset was transferred from Cisco to the Brocade switches and it worked Fine

Since a few days this dosn't work anymore.

it Seems that the interop Mode is off:

    ---------------------------------------------------------

    blade02-bay4:admin> interopmode
    InteropMode: Off

    ---------------------------------------------------------
