Migrating from fos 5.3.2a to fos 7.1.1

I am in the process of swapping out my old brocade 3900's running fos 5.3.2a for 5300's running fos 7.1.1

I am looking for a way to get my aliases and zones from the old switches to the new. I believe the versions of fos are not compatible, so I can't just connect one of the new switches into my current san. Any ideas ?

    Thanks,

    Eric

run configupload from your old switch to an ftp/scp server.

edit the file in such way that it only contains the zoning informtion.

run configdownload on your new switch to get the edited file.

Although I've used this a couple of times on VF disable switches, I haven't tested it on VF enabled switches.

You may need to adjust for VF.

I tried with just the zoning data, was getting an error for corrupted file. So, I did in 3 steps. I deleted everything from the Zoning stanza

( for lack of a better term )on down from my new switch backup ( and saved it ), added the zoning data from the old switches by removing everything from the file but the Zoning stanza,  added it by cat >>, then added back into the file  everything I had removed.

    Thanks for your reply,

    Eric

p.s haven't gone live yet for the ultimate test, but looks good so far

Tx for the feedback, I probably did it the same way as you described then.

Sorry for any inconvience, but glad you got it sorted.
