    Hello Guys,


    Greeting...

    We have an existing setup of FCIP tunnel/circuit running at 34 Mbps.

    We just had our WAN links upgraded and hence would like to increase the tunnel/circuit bandwidth to 500 Mbps.

    Can you please let me know the procedure/steps to change the speed of the circuit?

    And just wondering if this could be done online? Or would we have to shut down the tunnel/circuit to change the bandwidth?

    Is suggested to disable single circuit before do maintenance.

     

    portcfg fcipcircuit -operands- "modify"

    Thank you for your response. 

    Can you please confirm if the below steps/commands will do? Please let me know if I am missing something.


    Step 1:
    On Switch A - portdisable 16

    Step 2:
    On Switch B - portdisable 16

    Step 3:
    On Switch A - portcfg fciptunnel 16 modify remote_ip_address local_ip_address 500000

    Step 4:
    On Switch B - portcfg fciptunnel 16 modify remote_ip_address local_ip_address 500000

    Step 5:
    On Switch A - portenable 16

    Step 6:
    On Switch B - portenable 16

    that work, but i suggest the command

     

    portcfg fcipcircuit ( is applicable in a multi-circuit tunnel ) to avoid downtime.

    Thank you.

     

    We have just one circuit in this tunnel - So I guess we are good there...

     

    And I just found another alternate command for changing the link speed.

     

    "portcfg fciptunnel 16 modify -b 500000 -B 500000"

     

    So is specifying the ip address field mandatory?

    Can you please explain the difference of both the command and which one should I go for? Thanks.

    For your 7800 configuration (single circuit on tunnel 16 and 17) the command you listed is correct.

     

    The commands are:

    "portcfg fciptunnel 16 modify -b 500000 -B 500000"

    "portcfg fciptunnel 17 modify -b 500000 -B 500000"

     

    You need to set the values identical at each location.

     

    If you have ARL (adaptive rate limit) license then Brocade suggests to use it by setting the upper and lower

    limit bandwidths to no more that 5x difference.  So for WAN circuit of 500000 kpbs (500Mbps), the

    lower and upper limit can be no more than -b 100000 and  -B 500000.    ARL is useful when a

    WAN circuits capacity may fluctuate. The 7800 (and 7840) will adjust the throughput to ensure

    the circuit is not being over-run should the WAN bandwidth drop below 500000.  ARL wil restore

    the b/w rate to max configured when it deems the WAN can handle it.
