Getting 'Severe latency bottleneck detected' and disc c3 errors

  • 1.  Getting 'Severe latency bottleneck detected' and disc c3 errors

We have a Brocade 5100 switch as the principal switch with an IBM Blade Brocade switch ISL'ed to it.  On the blade switch we are seeing disc c3 errors on the blade switch (porterrshow) on the host port and the ISL port.

frames      enc    crc    crc    too    too    bad    enc   disc   link   loss   loss   frjt   fbsy

The server attached to the Blade switch is reporting ISCSI errors when the disc c3 errors happen.  The ISL's are to the 5100

On the 5100: The ports below are getting the "Severe latency bottleneck detected at slot 0 port 36".

    28:   14.3m  64.8m   0      0      0      0      0      0     31     24      0      1      2      0      0 - ISL

    36:   14.3m  64.8m   0      0      0      0      0      0      8    185      0      1      2      0      0 - ISL

We have the ISL ports fixed at 8G and fillword=3.  A couple other forums (Brocade) suggested that we might need to replace the SFP's on the 5100.

Any thoughts as to what I should be looking for to determine why we are getting these errors?>

    Hi,

What kind of c3 discards is each port reporting? Please, check it out with portstatsshow command on each port. Depending on the type of discards the issue could be different.
