I am configuring two 6510 (HP SN6000B) switches to use VF for administrative seperation. Switch A has a connections from each server and connections to half of the SAN ports and Switch B also has connections from each server and the other half of the SAN ports (common split path approach, nothing new) the servers are in specific groups and each group will be catered for by a Logical Switch (3 in total) no problems there. I need to configure XISL links (not sure if individual ISLs is a better approach) anyway I was wondering just exactly what traffic is passed via the XISLs?
the XISL is a shered ISL between two Chassis.
In an Virtual Fabric you have two different Types of ISL:
DISL, a dedicated ISL which is usable only for the logical switch where it is connected to.
XISL, a shared ISL which is connected between the Base-Switches of two chassis. All allowed virtual Switches of a chassis can use this XISL.
The XISL has a different cost in FSPF then the DISL (XISL has 510 and the DISL 500).
So XISL carries the same traffic then "normal" ISL.
