I'm in the process of replacing two old SAN Directors Brocade 48000.
Each Director is being used as seed switch of a separate Fabric. Each fabric has multiple switches.
The new directors are X6-4 model. I'm planning to basically migrate the ISL trunks from each SAN Switch from the 48000 to the X6-4 (one switch at a time), because the 48000 and the x6-4 are not compatible (FOS versions).
My question is
Do I need to make a config upload on the X6-4 before connecting the first switch, or the zone config will be copied automatically from the first switch to the X6-4 as soon as I connect this device?
you cannot use "Traditonal" ISL for Switches Based on FOS v6.x with FOS 8.x for that reason the config cannot be merged from Old to new Switch.
is suggested to create a NEW config on X6 instead to use configupload and then configdownload
Thank you from your prompt response. Actually all other switches on the fabric have FOS7.X. Just the Directors 48000 (that im replacing) has FOS 6.X
Sorry i didnt put all the info on the original post.
at least FOS 7.3.1 or higher is required to ISL with X6 and/or FOS 8.x
