You did not offer much detail on what slot and why you wish to disable/enable a blade  in the DCX.

That said, it is possible to disable/enable each slot in the DCX using commands: slotpoweroff / slotpoweron.

The commands are explained in the FOS Command Reference Guide.

    Example:      switch: admin> slotpoweroff 3     <--powers down slot 3

                           switch: admin> slotpoweron 3    <-- powers on slot 3

As a side note, if you power off a core blade it will reduce the DCX's switching capacity by 50%, and all i/o traversing

DCX fc blades will be forced through the surviving core blade.  Powering down a core blade is suggested to be

    done during off-peak i/o hours.

Right, but this requires a non-documented option...

It will depend on the FOS level as to whether slotpoweroff requires additional syntax.

I dont know when Brocade change things but below is a DCX with 2 core operating blades

running v7.4.1d.  I can power down core blade in slot 3 by simply using the "slotpoweroff 3" command.

    No added syntax required.

    Fabric OS (DCX_8510)
    Fabos Version 7.4.1d

    DCX_8510 login: admin
    Password:

    DCX_8510:FID128:admin> slotshow -m

Slot Blade Type ID Model Name Status
    --------------------------------------------------
    1 SW BLADE 126 FC8-48E ENABLED
    2 UNKNOWN VACANT
    3 CORE BLADE 99 CR16-4 ENABLED
    4 CP BLADE 50 CP8 ENABLED
    5 CP BLADE 50 CP8 ENABLED
    6 CORE BLADE 99 CR16-4 ENABLED
    7 SW BLADE 125 FC8-32E ENABLED
    8 SW BLADE 97 FC16-32 ENABLED

    DCX_8510:FID128:admin> slotpoweroff 3

You have chosen a core blade to power off, if this is the last operational core blade then the chassis will disable itself.
Would you like to proceed? (yes, y, no, n): [no]y

Slot 3 is being powered off

    DCX_8510:FID128:admin> slotshow -m

Slot Blade Type ID Model Name Status
    --------------------------------------------------
    1 SW BLADE 126 FC8-48E ENABLED
    2 UNKNOWN VACANT
3 CORE BLADE 99 CR16-4 INSERTED, NOT POWERED ON  <====
    4 CP BLADE 50 CP8 ENABLED
    5 CP BLADE 50 CP8 ENABLED
    6 CORE BLADE 99 CR16-4 ENABLED
    7 SW BLADE 125 FC8-32E ENABLED
    8 SW BLADE 97 FC16-32 ENABLED

Next, powering on core blade in slot 3...........................

    DCX_8510:FID128:admin> slotpoweron 3

    Powering on slot 3

    7 SW BLADE 125 FC8-32E ENABLED

    DCX_8510:FID128:admin> slotshow -m

You can also use ranges to disable/enable multiple ports in one command, but the ports will be disabled/enabled one-by-one at appx. 2-3 ports per second in fact, not all at the same moment.
