  • 1.  URLs are not semantic, but instead rely on long inscrutable IDs

This is the URL to the discussions forum of the Water Cooler community:

    https://community.broadcom.com/communities/community-home/digestviewer?communitykey=f92efc9f-0875-4c00-ad19-f20b3185f059&tab=digestviewer

This sort of URL is not human-readable and does not give any indication of nature of the linked-to content. This pattern is typical of the new Broadcom community site. URLs rely on long hexadecimal identifiers rather than descriptive slugs.

Semantic URLs (a.k.a. Clean URLs) would be highly preferable.

@Michael A. Lowry: We agree with this assessment and have already raised the issue with the vendor. We don't know when it might be addressed but it is on their radar.

Any news on this? I see that some items now have partly semantic URLs.

@Michael A. Lowry  -  We are working with the vendor on readable URLS that move away from message keys and will benefit the Community in SEO as well.    Again, there is no release date from the vendor's product team.   ~jm   @Lenn Thompson
