    Hello Everyone,

    I'm sure that we've all come across old TEC document numbers in the documentation, and thought "That looks relevant", only to find that we can't locate that TEC any longer.

    These steps will allow you to convert a known TEC document number to the new Article ID URL.

    Of course, this only works if the document is still available. If it has genuinely been retired, then it still won't show. But you can log a post here on CA Communities to double-check, and we'll look into it. It's best to post into the relevant product forum.

    Why might this manual process be necessary?
    It is not always needed. If there is a valid URL to the old TEC document, then in many cases it will be redirected seamlessly to the new Article page. You won't need to do a thing.

    It does cover a variety of other cases though.
    • The simple case of the old TEC document number not containing any hyperlink.
    • An invalid hyperlink structure being used.
    • The auto-indexing of the old pages not yet reaching this link.
    • And slow updates to Google re-indexes, which can take some time in the case of a domain change.


    STEPS TO CONVERT A TEC NUMBER TO NEW ARTICLE URL
    1) Take your known TEC number.

    Eg  TEC1049335

    I know the TEC number! It's here!


    2) Append it to the legacy TEC base URL:

    https://ca-broadcom.wolkenservicedesk.com/external/article?legacyId=
    Eg 
    https://ca-broadcom.wolkenservicedesk.com/external/article?legacyId=TEC1049335
    3) Gather the Article ID.
    If it opens, Copy the resulting Article ID from the top left of the knowledge document.

    Eg Article Id: 14568
    Gather the number in the Article Id


    (Note The legacyId URL opens exactly that - the old URL. It does NOT do a redirect to the new Article ID URL.)

    If it doesn't, try a Google Search first if the title or more text is available. Then ask in the relevant product forum.

    4) Append the Article ID to the new knowledge Article URL format: 

    https://ca-broadcomcsm.wolkenservicedesk.com/wolken/esd/knowledgebase_search?articleId=
    UPDATE: Please use the following updated syntax:
    https://ca-broadcom.wolkenservicedesk.com/external/article?articleId=

    Eg 
    https://ca-broadcomcsm.wolkenservicedesk.com/wolken/esd/knowledgebase_search?articleId=14568
    UPDATE: And this:
    https://ca-broadcom.wolkenservicedesk.com/external/article?articleId=14568

    You've now got a link to the new location.
