HCX Migrating from Cloud to On-Prem without NSX?

If migrating from a cloud back to a datacenter, do I need NSX?

From what I understand it should be enough to configure Site Paring/Interconnect and then adding a network Extension.

(And as I read it now, "HCX requires an NSX configured with an Overlay Transport Zone.") Ohh well:)

Is it a simple installation of NSX that can be easily removed when done?

(It's a one time migration, and would like to keep it as simple as possible!)

Hi Mads.

I dont think you need NSX in onprem side.
During the creation Mobility Group you will only map the segment on source with portgroup on destination for specific VM and everything should works fine.

NSX should be only on cloud side then if understand you correctly your source ?

I might be answering my own question.

"HCX requires an NSX configured with an Overlay Transport Zone"

My initial understanding was that you did not need NSX if you did a simple VM migration. But for whatever reason, it looks like HCX needs an NSX overlay network at the destination. Could it simply be an HCX "limitation"?

You don't need to extend the network to migrate a VM
