function level. Function levels are updated by APARs

In addition, another new data element, DB2 Sub-version

component files. DB2SUBV contains the sub-version value

metrics are added to the SMF type 74 subtype 1 (Device
Activity) and 78 subtype 3 (I/O Queueing Activity)
records. In addition, the IBM Post Processor I/O Queueing
Activity report is updated with new information about
AMGs.
The following MICS database files are updated with new
SuperPAV related data elements. In addition, the data
dictionary members for some existing data elements are
updated with improved information:

The following MICF inquiry is updated to display new

The different report section headings are
updated to clearly identify the sections:
"INPUT/OUTPUT PROCESSORS" and "LOGICAL CONTROL
UNITS". The Logical Control Units (LCU)
section now prints the Alias Management Group
(AMG) number if associated with the LCU. In
addition, the LCUs in the section are presented
with all non-AMG LCUs listed first, followed by
LCUs that belong to AMGs, in AMG number order.

o z/OS 2.3 zHyperLink, IBM APAR OA50755
IBM zHyperlink is available for the IBM z14 CPC and DS8800
storage subsystem. zHyperlink provides an extremely fast,
low latency communcation path between CPCs and I/O
devices. Using synchronous I/O, IBM claims that I/O
response times using zHyperLink can be reduced up to 10
times compared to z High-Performance Ficon (zHPF).
With z/OS 2.3 and IBM APAR OA50755 for earlier z/OS
releases, new synchronous I/O related metrics are added to
the SMF type 74 subtype 1 (Device Activity) and 74 subtype
9 (PCIe Based Function Activity) records. In addition,
the IBM Post Processor Device Activity and PCIe Activity
reports are updated with new information.
The following MICS database files are updated with new
synchronous I/O related data elements. In addition, the
data dictionary members for some existing data elements
are updated with improved information:

RMF709AB, etc.) loaded into the sharedprefix.PSP
libraries conflicted with "alias" member names delivered
by the r14.1 level set PTF, RMF7090.
If the r14.1 RMF7090 level set PTF was applied after
RMF7099 was loaded into the PSP libraries, some
documentation members in sharedprefix.DIC.TEXT and
sharedprefix.DOC.TEXT were corrupted. This product
change redelivers all DIC.TEXT and DOC.TEXT members that
would have been corrupted in the scenario just

Over recent releases of z/OS, the management of real
memory became very complex. By z/OS 2.2, real memory was
carved into many different pools supporting requests for
different frame sizes and types.
With z/OS 2.3, the configuration of central storage was
simplified. Requests for page frame sizes other than 2GB
are managed from one storage pool, and requests for 2GB
page frames from another.
As a result of these changes, with z/OS 2.3, the SMF type
71-1 Paging Activity record, used to populate the MICS
Paging Activity (SCPPAG) file was significantly updated by
IBM with z/OS 2.3.
- Some data fields in the SMF type 71-1 record that
contained metrics related to the previous "many pool"
memory configuration are eliminated and the SMF data
fields are now marked *reserved*. As a result, the data
elements whose content came from these now reserved
fields are populated with missing values when data from
z/OS 2.3 or later is processed.
- Other SMF type 71-1 data fields have had their
description significantly changed in the z/OS 2.3 SMF
manual. In these cases, the original data elements
populated from changed fields are populated with missing
values when data from z/OS 2.3 or later is processed.
New data elements, with labels and descriptions
appropriate for the updated IBM z/OS 2.3 descriptions,
are added to the SCPPAG file and populated when data
from z/OS 2.3 or later is processed.
- A number of data elements are introduced containing the
content of new data fields added to the SMF 71-1 record
with z/OS 2.3.
- Finally, four older paging related data elements are
obsoleted and removed from the SCPPAG file with this
product change. The SMF data fields used to populate
these data elements have been *reserved fields* since
z/OS 1.13, and these data elements contain missing
values.

Device Activity file.
With z/OS 2.3, IBM has added the subchannel set ID to many
SMF records that report on devices. Because the same
device number can be used across subchannel sets, it is
necessary to know the subchannel set ID in order to
definitively identify a device.
In response to these IBM z/OS 2.3 updates, this product
change does the following:
- RMF7111 introduces a new RMF component common data
element, SCSID - Device Subchannel Set ID. SCSID is
added to a number of RMF component database files.
- SCSID replaces DVASCSID in the HARDVA file.
- In the following files where DEVNUM (Device Number) is a
file summarization key, SCSID is added as a new
summarization key ahead of DEVNUM. This prevents
records from being invalidly summarized together in the
DAYS and higher timespans if your systems programmers
define the same DEVNUM in different Subchannel Sets:

Note: IBM added the SCSID metric to the 74-5 record
(HARCVA file) with z/OS 2.3. For sites running
z/OS 2.2 and earlier, SCSID in the HARCVA file

summarization key, SCSID is added as a common retained
data element:

Device Subchannel Set ID for the device.
A retrofit job is provided in the SYSTEM MODIFICATION
steps for the HARDVA and HARCVA files where SCSID is added
as a new summarization key data element.

In the HARDVA Device Activity file, data element SCSID -
Device Subchannel Set ID (formerly DVASCSID), is now
populated for all devices regardless of their

of the RMF interval, or if had been reconfigured (varied
on or offline) during the RMF interval, SCSID (formerly
DVASCSID) was assigned a missing value.

- Honor priority by Service Class provides more granular
control (Service Class level) for determining which
specialty core (zIIP/zAAP) eligible workloads can use CP
cores when all specialty cores are busy. The
SYS1.PARMLIB(IEAOPTxx) IIPHONORPRIORITY=YES (zIIP) and
IFAHONORPRIORITY=YES (zAAP) parameters instruct z/OS to
allow the dispatch of zIIP or zAAP eligible work on
standard CP cores if all specialty cores are busy. Even
with xxxHONORPRIORITY=YES specified, you can now define
Service Classes with Honor Priority=NO, meaning that
even when all zIIP specialty cores are busy, workloads
for these Service Classes are not permitted to use CP
cores, but must instead wait for a specialty core to
free up.
- Resource Group memory capping supports the setting of a
maximum memory limit (GB units) for address spaces
associated with the resource group.

o Inquiries now include a run time execution time
override, SELECT YESTERDAY, that allows you to configure
the inquiry to chart yesterday's data only, based on the
date when the inquiry is executed.
o When multiple VCC scans of the same storage are
performed on the same day, the inquiry processes only
the most recent data for each SYSID.
o The Summarization step has been removed from VCAOX1,
instead the next Sort step has been modified to
achieve the same functionality while improving
performance.
o The summarization keys are changed for the VCAOX2
inquiry. The former keys, DATE CPCID STCRANK, are
changed to SYSID DATE STCRANK.
o In VCAOX2 the values of Space Allocated and Used are now
represented in Gigabytes for better readability.
o In VCAOX2 the Space Used metric has been improved. The
DAAUSSPN data element is now utilized which allows to
show how much space is used also within the VSAM Data
Sets.
o Removed component name from the titles of VCAOX2 and
VCAOX3 inquiries for consistency with other inquiries.
o The right Y-Axis in VCAOX3 has been removed because
all displayed metrics use the same units (MBytes),
so only a single left Y-Axis is required.
o User source code is now invoked properly.
o Invalid references to MQS macros have been removed.
o The documentation is updated and corrected, including
complete descriptions of the Run-Time Execution
Parameter Overrides descriptions.

o Correct DEVTYPE for 3390 EAVs
Internal tables are updated to recognize raw data field
codes that identify 3390 DASD Extended Address Volumes
(EAVs). These tables are used when processing both z/VM
monitor and z/VM Account data.
With this update, data element Device Type (DEVTYPE) will
contain a value of "3390-A" for observations representing
EAV devices. Without this support, MICS assigns a value
of "3390-?" for EAV devices in the following database
files:
VMCDAC - VM Device Accounting File
VMXCDI - VMX DASD Cache Activity File
VMXDCF - VMX Device Configuration File
VMXXDV - VMX Device Activity File
Any 3390 DASD model greater that a 3390-9 is now
identified as a model 3390-A.
Refer to Appendix A at the end of this Product Change text
for a list of data elements affected by VMC6751.

o Correct VM Channel Measurement Group (CPMCMG) Value
Data element CPMCMG - VM Channel Measurement Group
contained a value of "ESCON" when the raw data field
SYTEPM_CSCCMCMG on the Monitor Domain 0, record 20
contained a value of 1. ESCON channels are no longer
used, and IBM has reused a field value of 1 to represent
InfiniBand Coupling Links (CIB). CPMCMG now contains
"CIB" for Infiniband Coupling Links.
A retrofit job is provided to update the CPMCMG data
element in all timespans.

IBM APAR VM66161 adds the cylinder capacity for 3390 DASD

o Improve Data Element Content from Unknown Raw Data Values
Many SAS FORMATS are used to translate raw data HEX values
into descriptive character strings that are used to
populate MICS data elements. For example, tranlating HEX
'OC' in a raw data field, to "3390-9" for a device type
data element. When an unknown HEX code is encountered,
these SAS FORMATS append a '?' to the returned value, for
example "3390?". Other data elements that might have
contained a "??' or "(UNK)".
To improve the ability of CA support and development staff
to resolve issues related to unknown HEX codes, the
unknown HEX value is now appended after the "?" or the
resulting value will only be the HEX code. For example,
if the HEX code "A9" was unrecognized by the FORMAT, the
value written to the data element is now "3390?A9" instead
of "3390?".

o Recognize Unknown CA VM:Account Records
DAY080 and INCR080 steps now recognize and account for all
CA VM:Account records, even those not processed by the
component. Without this support, the DAY080 and INCR080
MICSLOG could contain numerous VMC00053W warning messages

This support includes a summary line in MICSLOG that shows
the count of "A*" record types that were encountered and
